Alaska tax sales
deed state
Alaska has no county governments: property tax is levied by organized boroughs and by some cities, and each of them collects its own delinquent taxes. There is no tax lien or certificate sale; instead the borough or city petitions the Superior Court for a judgment and decree of foreclosure against the delinquent parcels, and the foreclosure list shows the taxes plus penalty, interest and costs owed. Owners can redeem during a one-year redemption period, and property that is not redeemed is deeded to the borough or city by the clerk of the court. The borough or city then sells property it acquired this way on its own schedule (Anchorage by sealed bid, Mat-Su online, Kenai by public outcry auction), and the deed carries no title guarantee.
