Arkansas tax sales

deed state

In Arkansas the state, not the county, sells tax-delinquent land: real property forfeited to the state for unpaid real property taxes is certified to the Commissioner of State Lands, a state agency, which runs the public auctions county by county. Each county's auction is held once a year, in that county or a neighboring one. Anyone may redeem a certified parcel by paying the delinquent taxes until 4 p.m. on the last business day before the sale date; after that, parcels cannot be redeemed and sales are final. The buyer pays the full price on auction day and receives a limited warranty deed conveying whatever interest the state holds; parcels that do not sell are offered again through the Commissioner's post-auction sales 30 days later.
