Connecticut tax sales

redeemable deed state

Connecticut has no county tax sales: unpaid property taxes are handled by each city or town, which can sell the real estate at a public auction, called a tax sale, under General Statutes § 12-157. These municipal tax sales are held without a court case. After the sale there is a six-month redemption period, and title does not pass to the buyer until that period has expired. If the property is not redeemed, the tax collector's deed is recorded and full title vests in the buyer.
