Vermont tax sales

redeemable deed state

Vermont has no county tax sales. Each town's or city's collector of delinquent taxes can levy on land with unpaid taxes and advertise it for sale at public auction in the town where it lies, with the last newspaper notice at least 10 days before the sale. The winning bidder buys the property subject to a right of redemption: the owner or mortgagee can redeem within one year from the day of sale by paying the collector who made the sale, with interest at one percent per month. If the property is not redeemed, the collector executes a deed to the purchaser.
