- Attend in person. The starting bid is the outstanding taxes plus all fees of the tax sale. Pay in certified funds (certified check, treasurer's check or money order); personal checks are not accepted, and any certified funds above the bid are refunded the day of the sale. The owner or lienholder has one year to redeem, and the bidder earns 1% interest per month on the bid until then. A buyer who gets the property pays current taxes, water and sewer charges, and transfer and recording fees at closing.
