- The county sells tax liens to attending purchasers. Buyers cannot pick properties: the treasurer announces each delinquent property and draws a number, and the matching participant may buy the lien or pass. Liens must be paid when the sale ends (cash, certified funds, personal checks or credit cards, with a card fee). Buyers earn 15% per annum interest plus a 3% penalty; a tax deed may be applied for no earlier than four years after the sale.
