Schedule: it is normally the third Wednesday in September.
How to bid: Register on sale morning from 8:00 to 9:00 AM at the Uinta County Complex, 225 9th St. (new participants bring a W9 and a registration form); you must be present and over 18. It is a lottery: bidder numbers are drawn electronically, an equal number of times, and the person drawn may pay the advertised amount (delinquent tax, advertising fees and a CP fee) for a Certificate of Purchase, or decline. Check or cash only. The owner may redeem within four years by paying the amount paid at the sale plus 3% and 15% interest per year. The brochure says a CP holder may apply for a tax deed if the account stays unpaid over 5 years and loses that right six years after the sale; the tax deed fee is $25.00 plus recording fees. Reassignment costs $20.00 and is not allowed in the first 30 days.
