- Tax-forfeited lands are appraised and offered at a public sale to the highest bidder; the minimum acceptable bid is the appraised value. Sales are cash only with full payment at the time of sale, and all sales are final. Buyers also pay a 3% state assurance fee, deed tax of .33% (minimum $1.65), a $25 state deed fee and a $46 recording fee. The buyer gets a receipt at purchase and a state deed later. Time, place and bidding procedure are not stated on the county page.
