How to bid
This is not a bidding auction: investors take an assignment of the county's tax lien by paying the delinquent taxes, penalty, interest and costs, and when several want the same parcel the county sets the order by lottery. Flathead requires notices to owners postmarked not earlier than August 15 and at least two weeks before payment, then payment of the exact delinquency plus a $50 assignment fee per assessor number, a priority list in Excel format, copies of the notices and a W-9. Order among investors is set by a card draw: the party with the highest card selects first. The county does not handle assignments in May and November and does not issue certificates on the date of sale.
