How to bid: Attend the sale in person on the date and time of the sale; sales are public auctions on the courthouse steps run by the county's third-party attorney, and the county page says to contact Mewborn & DeSelms directly about upcoming sales. The successful bidder pays a cash or certified funds deposit of 20% of the bid. Bids stay open 10 days for upset bids; an upset bid must be at least 5% of the original bid amount and is made with the Clerk of Superior Court on the 2nd floor of the Carteret County Courthouse. A bidder who does not accept the deed forfeits the deposit. Properties are sold as-is. Balance due date and registration steps are not stated.
