How to bid
Tax-delinquent foreclosure properties are sold by blind sealed bid to the highest bidder; the county may accept or reject any bid. Submit each bid on the County Bid form in a sealed envelope marked "Land Sale Bid" with the parcel number, delivered to the Columbia County Treasurer's Office on or before the date in the Notice of Sale. Bids must be at least the appraised minimum bid shown in the Land Sale Notice, with 10% of the bid as earnest money by certified check, cashier's check, money order or cash. Rejected bidders get their earnest money back within 15 days of the bid opening. The winning bidder pays the balance within 30 days of the county's Notice of Acceptance and receives a quitclaim deed; if the balance isn't paid, the earnest money is forfeited. Bids are not accepted from anyone who owes delinquent property taxes to Columbia County.
