Schedule
Yes, all lands and lots on which taxes are 3 years delinquent are offered for sale on the fourth Monday of August each year.
How to bid
Bidders must be Missouri residents aged 18 or over (out-of-state bidders appoint a Missouri resident as agent) and give the Collector a signed, notarized bidder's affidavit stating they owe no delinquent property taxes; businesses must be registered in Missouri. Show Missouri ID to get a bid number: numbers are issued only the week before the sale and stop at 9 AM on sale day. The sale starts at 10:00am in the Assembly Room of the Administration Building in Hillsboro and bidders must be present. Properties go in newspaper order (1st, then 2nd, then 3rd offerings), the minimum bid is the taxes and sale expenses due, and the highest bidder wins. Pay at the Collector's office within 2 hours after all properties have been offered; failure to pay brings a 25% fine. The eligible property list is posted on the Collector's website in June.
