How to bid: The latest county notice describes an online-only auction under Virginia Code 58.1-3975. Bidders register with the auctioneer, For Sale At Auction, and must be approved; registration is free, and bidders without internet access can call the auctioneer for help. A buyer's premium of 10% of the winning bid ($150 minimum) is added, and the high bidder pays the balance within seven days of the close by certified funds, cashier's check, money order or wire (no cash or personal checks). The Treasurer may reject bids it considers unreasonable. The deposit amount is not stated in the notice as read.
