Nebraska tax sales

lien state

Nebraska sells tax sale certificates (liens) on real property with delinquent taxes, not the property itself. Property whose taxes are not paid on or before the first Monday of March after they become delinquent is subject to sale, and each county treasurer holds the sale as a public auction. The certificate of purchase is signed by the county treasurer. The owner can redeem by paying the amount due with interest at the rate set in section 45-104.01, which is fourteen percent per year. If the property is not redeemed, the certificate holder can apply for a treasurer's tax deed within nine months after three years from the date of sale, or foreclose.
