Nevada does not sell tax liens. When real property taxes go unpaid, the county tax receiver issues a certificate that lets the county treasurer hold the property as trustee for the State and county for 2 years after the first Monday in June of the year the certificate is dated, unless it is redeemed sooner. Interest is added to the unpaid taxes at 10 percent per annum, assessed monthly, until paid. If the property is not redeemed, the tax receiver deeds it to the county treasurer as trustee, and the board of county commissioners can direct the treasurer to sell it after giving notice of sale, so buyers at these auctions get the property itself.
