How to bid
Per the county FAQ: bidding is online through the Real Auction website, linked from the FAQ as the county's official tax certificate auction site. There is a $100 nonrefundable bidder registration fee. The taxes, interest and fees are due by 4 pm on the day of the sale via ACH, plus any bid premium; the balance of the bid is due on foreclosure. The county uses the bid premium method: if a bid exceeds 40% of the property's full cash value, the bidder pays a 20% premium on the excess, returned without interest if the certificate is redeemed or foreclosed within 2 years. Unsold liens may be bought over the counter.
