How to bid: Bidders register and bid through the county's Tax Sale website (taxsale.howardcountymd.gov). For the 2026 sale, registration opened May 21 and closed June 3, 2026 at 5:00 p.m., and budgets closed June 9 at 5:00 p.m. The pages do not say whether the sale is online or in person, and no deposit is stated. The county's 2025 FAQ says the interest rate paid on a tax sale property is 18% a year. Outside the tax sale period, call the Office of Tax Sale at 410-313-2299 or email taxsale@howardcountymd.gov.
