Commissioner's Sales are usually held on Monday mornings at 9:00 am in the County Treasurer's Office.
How to bid
County-owned property (acquired at annual delinquent-tax sales) is sold by Commissioner's Sale: the bidder completes and signs a bid sheet; if the County Commissioners approve the starting bid, the Treasurer's office sets the date of sale. A deposit of the starting bid amount plus a minimum of $187.00 (estimated publication costs and fees) is required in certified funds. The sale ad runs for three consecutive Wednesdays before the sale. All bidders must be registered by 8:45 a.m. in the Treasurer's office on sale day and be present. Costs and fees are charged to the highest bidder; on Commissioners' approval the Treasurer issues a deed to the highest bidder. Each deed holder must sign a notarized Affidavit of Land or Mineral Ownership; buyers research liens themselves.
