Schedule
Tax sales begin at 10:00 a.m. on the first Tuesday of the month, and ordinarily in front of the courthouse.
How to bid
Attend in person, ordinarily in front of the courthouse, from 10:00 a.m. on the first Tuesday of a sale month; the tax commissioner, acting as ex officio sheriff, runs the sale as a public outcry auction. The opening bid equals the taxes due plus costs and the property goes to the highest bidder; if no one bids over the opening bid it may be bid in for the county. Payment of the bid is due at the time of sale by cashier's or certified check from an FDIC- or FSLIC-insured institution, and the buyer must give a current mailing address. The tax commissioner then executes and records a tax deed. Registration steps are not stated.
