How to bid
Register as a bidder with the county's Bidder Tax Sale Registration Form (linked from the Treasurer's Delinquent Tax page) by the posted deadline. The sale is an open bid auction at the Sumter County Civic Center: bidders use their numbered paddle, and property is sold in alphabetical order by the defaulting taxpayer's name. All bids must be paid at the Civic Center by 5:00 p.m. on the day(s) of the sale by cash, money order or certified check (no personal or business checks). The defaulting taxpayer, a grantee or a mortgage or judgment creditor has one year from the sale to redeem (SC Code Section 12-51-90).
