Each September we hold an annual upset sale for properties owing two years prior taxes.
How to bid
Sales are held in person at the Westmoreland County Courthouse in Greensburg, and you must be present on the day of sale to buy. All prospective bidders must pre-register in person with the Tax Claim Bureau at least 10 days before the sale (Act 33); registrations are not accepted by mail or email and open only after the required advertisement is published. The full amount of the bid is due the day of the sale (by 3:30 pm), plus a $25.00 deed preparation fee per bid. Anyone except the property owners may bid on repository properties, and anyone may put their name in the files within 10 calendar days after each judicial sale for later bid-off sales. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
