Tax Sales are generally held quarterly and are always on the first Tuesday of the month.
How to bid
Sales begin at 10:00 A.M. in the Commissioner's Court Room of the County Annex Building, 309 E. Milam, Wharton. You must register to bid; registration begins at 9:00 the morning of the sale. Successful bidders pay with cash or a cashier's check payable to Wharton County Sheriff Department; a bidder who fails to pay is liable for twenty percent of the property's value plus costs. Payment deadline and deposit not stated.
