How to bid
Online only, on the county's internet sale site (pitkin.coloradotaxsale.com), where bidding rules and instructions are posted; register on that site before the sale date. Investors may bid a premium, and the lien goes to the highest bidder. At the end of the sale the total advertised amount plus the premium bid is due. The premium is not part of the investment: it earns no interest and is not refunded. Simple interest on the lien is 9 percent above the Federal Discount rate as of September 1, rounded to the nearest full percent.
