How to bid: Tax deeds: auctions are online only, beginning at 9:00 AM; register on the online sale site before the sale. You must have $200.00 or 5% of the winning bid, whichever is greater, on deposit for each tax deed where you are the highest bidder (fund by cashier's check or money order at the Clerk's office, ACH or wire). Final payment of the bid plus recording fees and documentary stamps is due with the Clerk by 9:00 a.m. the following business day. Unsold lands: email taxdeeds@charlotteclerk.com with the tax deed case number. Tax certificates: bidders register online beginning in May; bidding begins at 18% and the certificate goes to the lowest annual interest rate bid.
