Schedule: Tax Deed Sales are generally held several times per year on Thursdays at 11:00 AM.
How to bid: Tax deeds: in-person public auction at the Sumter County Courthouse, 215 E McCollum Ave, Bushnell (the Clerk's pages name both the front steps of the historic courthouse and Courtroom F, Historic Wing, Third Floor). Sign in at the Clerk's office on the day of the sale. The high bidder posts $200 or 5% of the winning bid, whichever is greater, at the time of sale, and full payment is due within 24 hours, in cash, cashier's check or money order; failure to pay forfeits the deposit. Tax certificates: the Tax Collector holds a competitive-bid sale on or before June 1st with interest bids beginning at 18% and going down; platform and deposit not stated on the Tax Collector's page.
